"Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom."
SONG OF SOLOMON 2:15
THE WORK
Light and bright colors are the unifying factors in all of Sofie Gessner’s acryl paintings, originating in the sight of the sun breaking through the misty darkness. The theme of light inspires the artist from both an aesthetic and a spiritual viewpoint. Alongside intensely colored and contrasting sceneries, she mostly creates semi-abstract representations of the landscape.
These pieces are linked by the idea of healing and hope for a new day, even in the midst of this worlds brokenness, darkness and many different challenges.
Sofie Gessner was born and grew up in Denmark. After completing her teachers degree and working eight years as a math and art teacher, she set off to see the world and spent some eventful and adventurous years abroad in the US. She returned to Europe after getting married and settled in the Northern part of Germany, where she now lives with her family close to the beach.
